POETRY: Heartbeat

I listen to my heartbeats,

When everything else is still,

They tell me what to be cautious of,

And if what I’m feeling is real,

I listen to my heartbeats,

When everything else is still,

They warn me when I’m going to fast,

And help me keep my feet when I need to be still,

I listen to my heartbeats,

When everything else is still,

They beat fast in anticipation of possibilities that are near,

But they are slow and steady when I just need to hear,

I listen to my heartbeats,

When everything else is still,

They guide me because I trust them,

And I listen to push out the fear

Good evening everyone and to another Friday Night Poetry Corner. This week, I am featuring a sensational writer from Some Unique Magazine, Shonda Tennelle. Her poem is called “Heartbeat” and when you read it you will see how this is dear to relationships worth fighting for. Oh, you should also visit Some Unique Magazine page to see more of Shonda’s writing along with the other talent writers. Oh, you can also read more brilliant poetry. Double-plus good!
